My kind of overdose

After a marathon meeting on Wednesday that was also exceptionally productive, we dined on the patio of Street and Company, by the cobblestone roads of Portland, Maine. We had oysters for the first time and I have no words to describe the flavors or the texture!

We also had Lobster Daviolo (I think!) - lobster, squid and mussels on a bed on pasta in spicy garlic sauce. Heaven.

And some pan-fried sole in a lemony tangy sauce.

It's been seafood, seafood, and more seafood since then!

You ate oysters on the half-shell? A few years ago at a luncheon, I tried... I'll say no more.

The other dishes look excellent! Glad to hear you're enjoying your time!

Pel, them oysters were good. They need to be absolutely fresh for them to be good! Probably won't have an Internet connection from here on.

Bee, these are actually on my old camera. The previous post had pictures from the new camera.

Indulge, babay! The food looks great!

It is good to get away from the internet (and the phone, and the TV, and the newspapers...) for some time...and be with just family.

Anita, bliss, it was!

Padmaja, they are soft, a tad slimy, salty and they just slide down your throat. You just slurp it all up! Yum! And would you rather believe me or would you believe someone who uses candy for a facial? ;-)

Cynthia, I would never have ordered them if it wasn't for our friend and colleague who took us out to dinner in Portland. And, our family in Halifax said the same thing when it came to mussels and some of the seafood that they had not tried before!

Arundathi, I will get to it soon!

Sig, I'm still afraid to try oysters on my own. They were delicious. And, Medha liked them too!

HKG, this was the first time that I did not feel that a good coconut curry or a spicy masala was in order. :-D

Bee, I'm working on it - hopefully it will work.

Ramya, fish has Omega-3 fatty acids which are good for you. If you are not averse to trying seafood then, start with grilled or blackened tilapia. Tilapia is a river fish and compared to Indian fish, it is almost tasteless and does not have as strong a fishy odor. :-D

Srivalli, you reminded me of the 3 things meme that I never got around to! I think I have been tagged a couple of times for the same one you've tagged me for. I'm still recovering from our vacation and back-to-back visitors, including 5 days of intense brain-work and long working hours. We worked through the weekend, too. I feel like I need to go back to Maine to feel rejuvenated all over again. I find myself going through the zillion pictures I took and it helps to a certain extent!
