Déjà vu

It's not uncommon for us to see our first snow in September. The first real snowstorm at our altitude is usually in October. It usually wreaks havoc as most of our trees have not lost their leaves yet. And from the looks of it, this October is going to be no different. Last week was typical of fall in the Front Range of the Rockies but it was extra cold for us, as both my patio door and entry door were being stained. That meant that both doors were off their hinges or open all day, sometimes late into the night as the stain took longer to dry in day-time temps that averaged in the mid-40s. Brrrr!

The doors are on now, weather stripping included. But look at the temp in the house during the day!

When I complained, this was the result:

Where do you want it? he asked.
Where? Where?! Everywhere I go! That's where! Can't you see how cold I am?!

I will have the last laugh, however. You see, I suffer the most when the season changes but I get acclimatized rather quickly. Unlike the wearer of those disgusting chappals. Ha! He suffers when it gets cold and stays cold - for months. Hawaii would have been a better place to relocate to, he rues every year without fail.

So yeah, it's been a day of déjà vu.

They are eye catching - those chappals!
This is the best time in Delhi - weather-wise: balmy, with the prettiest of skies at sunset.

I have never understood how anyone can walk with those chappals :), I can't walk if the chappals don't have a good strap...But they are very very cute. I agree with Manasi, even I thought about Padukas :).

Anita, those chappals are an eye-sore. Enjoy your weather - I hope it doesn't get as cold for you as it did last year. We are slated for a very cold winter. :-(

Cook, the first week of October is the last week for color around here. We get mainly golds from the shimmering aspen. Beyond that, not much to look at but no-one really cares around here because what they are really waiting for is ski season to start. Weather like this is good for the slopes. The mountains were already looking peppered with white based on whatever little I could see through the thick clouds and fog.

And yes, those chappals are styled on padukas. But they are awful. Simply awful.

Nirmala, but there are advantages, too. We go sledding, snow shoeing and ice-skating. We hope to hit the ski slopes more this year. Without this kind of weather, we'd have to do what Dubai does for those indoor ski arenas.

Raaga, ah! Bliss! I am also found in the kitchen but for different reasons: it's the warmest area in my home currently. Brrrr!

Laavanya, I really do. I hate them. I would throw them away right now if I could. What is worse is that they are completely useless: they are not a pair I can slip my feet into if I need to step out into my yard. Not only is the design terrible, they are also those yukky acupressure chappals. You know the kind? They have poky things sticking up from the inner sole that hurt as you attempt to walk in them.

Pragyan, I love compliments! They warm me up from inside because curently that's the only way to stay warm. Brrrr!:-D We woke up to frozen grass but no black ice on our streets, unlike the roadways. It's going to warm up into the 60s after today which is why he won't turn the furnace on. Next weekend, we might actually ride our bikes to Balvihar. So I totally hear you about flip-flop weather!

Shilpa, he manages. I was thrilled when his last pair gave way. They were like regular flip-flops but had those acupressure thingees. So again, they were useless for me. But he stapled them together, used superglue and god knows what else to keep them going. After his last trip to India, he first showed me the lovely stacking katoris he brought back for me then he showed me these awful things. The old pair is still there as backup.

Yup, the weather! It's quite windy, the Santa Ana winds.....and more wildfires in SoCal :(.

I saw "fall colors" on one or two trees the other day. The only way i now "enjoy" winters is by taking a trip to the East Coast-though hardly any snow when i am around!

Indian Food Rocks said...

Musy, sad about the wildfires. :-( You're going to the wrong place to enjoy snow. Snow on the East Coast is ick. It's wet and heavy. What you want is powdery light snow that glistens like diamonds strewn in your path as the sun shines down on it. And yes, you want the sun, too. Won't get it on the East Coast. Just sayin' (omg, did I just drop a 'g'?! No!!!!)

haha .. I am always sock-clad in winters too :D it still hasn't arrived at our doorstep .. not looking to forward to it either, brrrr!

But the snow on East Coast comes with a dose of nostalgia.....especially snow in Boston.

Btw, where do i get the powdery, light snow :). CO, by any chance? ;).

And i saw that too, OMG, you really did drop the "g" :-D. Hai Ram, what has the world come to :-D.
