Season for Change

Well, well...how is the weather where you are? Is it spring yet? The changing weather is the least news-worthy of things tonight. What do you say - would you like to see some changes on IFR? I know I would. I like change. Don't they say it is the only constant?

This is where I, Anita, will be blogging from now on. Manisha? A soon-to-be distant figure in the history of this blog. You can find her over there even though I think you should stick around here, which is where things will be happening!

Since I am very tech-challenged, I am going to leave the template well alone for now...First things first. So, first let me try to put 'food' back into Indian Food Rocks. That's what I am good at: simple recipes you can use everyday. No posts without recipes!

Next, I will fix the 'Indian' part. Authentic, traditional, genuine Indian. No fusion, no blasphemous stuff, no short cuts...The change from tradition will be restricted to lower fat cooking, so we can continue to eat healthier. So, no swimming-in-oil recipes. [I do have to work with Blogger though; oh! how I miss the emoticons!]

Let's get the conversation going; put on some tea! And get your aprons out - there's going to be lots of cooking here!

I cannot believe no one was fooled! So much for all the hectic midnight planning, switching blogs, inviting each other...
All of you are way too smart...[Manisha had me fooled last year!] Still, it was fun...Manisha slept uneasy last night [the silver lining!] knowing I had access to her blog and knowing that I deleted something of value at AMTP last week... . She is going to shut me out real fast...
I hope it was worth a laugh anyway. :D Until next year!
You could have played along you know...
PS: Wordpress rocks! (and she cannot edit this!) LOL

Anita, some of your readers are rather distraught. Notice none of mine are! You got the magic, girl!

And, Pel, really! The fields just have to go! Can't say I didn't try! ;-)

I totally loved how Sailu's Taste of India played along. Our posts showed up as being posted by the correct author and led to the swapped blog!

ToI rocks!

TC, refill that mug of caffeine and some 80% fair trade cacao will also help! Hee! Hee! ;-)

Oye, what is this Manisha - you cannot take over the comments at both blogs! The comments on this post belong to me unless otherwise addressed. Hmmmph.

Indian Food Rocks said...

Oops! Sorry! :D

Does the non-italics help?

Anita said...

Manisha: Much better, now that you are addressing the post author.

She will smack me for replying but she's asleep so...

You got here a little too quickly, Musy! Comments went into moderation soon after that!

i like them recipeless posts and those where pics show up after four years. :D . i was worried for a bit that anita really meant to bring sanity to this place.

Anita, these Johnny-come-latelys have no clue what it was like to work with Blogger in its infancy and before Wordpress was even conceived. Bah!

OMG, guess what happened to me this evening?

I went to Zumba like I do and parked in the farthest spot in the parking lot like I generally do. And unlike every day, I did not get on the treadmill or the elliptical and left right after Zumba. Something was not working for me today. There was someone around with a terrible case of indigestion and I don't know if it was that that made it unbearable or the heat. I longed for fresh air so I left. But I couldn't find my car. I retraced my path in my mind and nope, not in the usual spots. Damn.

Then I saw a car just like mine out of the corner of my eye. When I looked again, it was not there nor had it driven out from either of the two driveways leading to the street. I wondered briefly if it had been stolen and really regretted bringing my camera with me - it was in the car. I walked back to where the car should have been and pressed the 'lock' button on the remote key so that it would beep. Nothing. I kept at it and I heard a familiar honk from the other end of the parking lot. I kept doing it till I was face to face with my car. Literally. It was nowhere near where I remembered parking it. The licence plate confirmed it was indeed my car along with the retort every time I hit the button. But the darned thing was facing the other way. That was when I knew something was really wrong. The car looked full even though there were no heads or bodies visible. I opened the door and screamed along with the two people inside. They shouted April Fool while I just...well, just shouted. And maybe doled out some well-deserved punches. I might have. I can't say for certain I did.

It was Medha's idea. She had her Dad drive out to the Rec Center to switch the cars. They were so thoughtful that they even put the camera in the car they were planning to leave there. I messed things up by leaving right after my class. According to Medha, "Daddy panicked" and he had to quickly pull into a parking spot to avoid being seen while driving out.

Heh. I caught them at it. Their penance? Take-out from the local Sichuan restaurant with spices that numb your tongue. All that was expended at Zumba was put right back on. Perhaps that is their revenge!

Endless comment continues: I spoke to a friend of mine whose 11 year old took Oreos that had their cream replaced with minty toothpaste to school. Only one was not. She ate that one and offered the rest to her friends. The real killer was when a couple of her friends did not even realize that they ate toothpaste. This enterprising 11 year old also added pink color to the milk. Her Mom did a double-take when she pulled the jug out of the fridge. She wondered if she had bought strawberry milk by mistake.

Oh, and I am soooo glad you are still at the helm on this blog. I said some not so nice things about Jodha Akbar and she threatened to come throw paint on my blog. You will take care of her, won't you, Gabbar?

Oh, and a pair of near identical twins in Medha's grade wore identical clothes and switched classes. Their number was up when it was time to split up into their ability groups. Apparently the other class teacher had not realized the switch. Medha's class teacher had but played along till the other teacher got it.

I wonder if anyone else had kids playing cool tricks. They could of course report it here on your blog or on my other blog. :-D

Pelicano said...

[collapses from exhaustion] That... was....the longest...comment I have ever encountered. You win! And it totally serves you right to have your car moved- that's hilarious!!!
That 11-year-old is clever...I'll give her that. But I do remember a child who once put a (found) dead mouse in his mother's wallet, which she found at the cash register with a line of people behind her. :-D

Indian Food Rocks said...

Luckily just moved and not switched. They got to watch the fun and if it had been recorded, some of the footage would have been worth being seen on AFV.

Now that dead mouse trick is just gross. That child was not related to you in any way, right?!

Anita said...

Musical: Yeah, it took a while for TLO to get the settings all figured out...and then it was too late to fool anyone!

Bee: Yeah, you're right - sanity is overrated. :D but recipes should feature occasionally on a blog that is primarily a food blog, no? [At least, it gives me something to heckle her about - she being TLO and all that.]

Manisha: You can't keep your hands off for long, can you? And, I can see the tendency to leave overly-long comments is back...there was some unsolicited advice for you some time back on that...but you are welcome, here as well as there. :D

I am so happy to learn someone got the better of you! I would have love to seen your face! LOL! Hats off to D and Medha!

I am wary of 11 year olds...you think I can convince her about how Aish is not a role model... or (not even) an average actor? She's a smart one though (the kid) so she'll figure it our soon enough! What did you tell her about the movie - naturally not how you didn't even know what Jodha was! (Note, I didn't say 'who'. :D )

Indian Food Rocks said...

Noooo!

It wasn't the 11 year old who was upset - it was her mother. Sorry I wasn't clear. I told her the movie s*cked and only decent part was when Hrithik took his clothes off for his fencing or whatever practice. But I don't think she heard me. BTW, I *knew* Jodha was the name of a woman. It was other learned people in the family who insisted otherwise. :-D

Haa haa haa! I'm so loving the April Fool madness across the food blogosphere :)

anita and manisha, i didn't get fooled nut it was fun for a day.. would have been great if u really changed things around!

Indian Food Rocks said...

Anita, I think we need to make it clear to Mallugirl that I did not write the post above nor did I log in as a user called Anita and ghost-write it or copy-paste it from a document sent to me. Things did change around here. ;-) I would have told her myself but I thought I would direct my comment to the author of the post lest it look like I am taking over the comments here, too! Imagine that! :-D

Anita said...

Kaykat: Made you smile, didn't it? :D

Anjali: But I had to give up my 'author' space in exchange for that! But it still feels great!

Bee: I'm not sure if they read the blog...Manisha, please convey Bee's approval...[She didn't approve of our 'prank' though.]

Mallugirl: It really is me! And maybe we will stick with this...I have to try and win John over...he was all set to make changes to his feeds!!

Manisha: Thanks for all the help! You are such a dear. (I mean it.)
:D
